About Mongui Maduro Foundation

Our Motto

The past a present for our future.

Our Vision

Mongui Maduro Foundation preserves, conserves and shares the cultural heritage of books, ephemera, memorabilia and heirlooms in such a way that the unique collection is easy accessible and available to the public, with the conviction that meaningful engagement with the tangible heritage in the museum and the intangible heritage in the library inspires to open minds and deepens conviviality.

Our Mission

MMF builds on the vision of S. A. L. (Mongui) Maduro and Ena Dankmeijer Maduro, to inspire and educate through its library and museum. By engaging a diverse audience it endeavors to provide opportunities to not only view the cultural legacy left, but also to use the unique resources in the collection to study, research and develop greater appreciation for art and understanding of humanity.

Mongui Maduro Foundation is committed to be a high service research center providing accessible and easy access to the cultural heritage legacy. The main purpose being: disseminating of knowledge through its unique collection which reflects the socio-cultural history of Curaçao – in the context of the former Netherlands Antilles as part of the Caribbean- and the history of the Diaspora of the Sephardic Jews to and from Curaçao. The foundation inspires and stimulates and facilitates research in this collection for more insight into the Curaçao community, its connections with the rest of the world and the role of Curaçao migrants towards local and international “Conviviality” (Living Together).
